Hi Woody, great to see you enjoying yourself with this gear. The Arturia sounds remarkably good via UA-cam but I still find that in the studio VST synths don’t have the detail of analogs and often my Virus TI2. I sincerely wish this wasn’t the case. I appreciate it would be extra work but would you be able to post some downloads of the raw audio on Dropbox or something similar. The point where I feel I can ditch the hardware will be completely liberating. Xx

Now that you've had a chance to play with it, how do you think it stacks up against the full Arturia collection with a controller keyboard? I kinda like the idea of being able to play around with the sounds "on the fly" in a hardware instrument but not sure I can justify the cost. Or the space, lol.

Hey Woody the pa5x is a brilliant keyboard I have one and a Genos , have been playing arrangers for years BUT BUT BUT the pa5x has no quick recording on it ,it is an arranger not a workstation or a keyboard with a sequencer. Just terrible

Down to earth thinking brother Woody.!! My line of wishfull thinking on how keyboards of high genre should be designed : a fully customable base, rythmn drum and other add on voices to be replacing those not so human preset hard wired electtonic band members accompanying me as a keyboard player. That really never has come about ! Is there a keyboard that leaves the styles and rythmns well up to the user to invent for himself. The user then will have a fine list of repertoirs that he can relate to and will anticipate his next move, since he has personally directed their paths to synch with his..... utopia!! Find me one that can do this Woody!

So i have a few questions that may be dumb(i am a noob lol). So how does the sound come out of the thing, is there soundboxes in there and does it sound good? 2. question: So it comes with all the presets. So i can also play the keyboard when connected to my mac book, and play these notes with all its presets in my daw, even if i havent bought the stuff that the astrolab already brings? If you want to "geek" with music, arranger is what you need. If you want to "geek" with sound, synth is what you need.

You're review is spot on. I too was also disappointed with the analogue section and bought a Behringer Wasp Deluxe to get the fat bass that I wanted. The Jd-xi is absolutely amazing for so many things. I still have a Roland MC-303, and it's better at splitting drum parts. The Jd-xi is the centre of the setup though as the digital supernatural engine is amazing.

Staccato heaven suddenly appeared in the New Jack Swing and smooth jazz sounds of the early 90s - beautiful stuff.
